Creators Are an Ad Unit Now: Meta Paid Partnership Ads

September 30, 2026
/

Creators on Meta perform best when you run them as an ad unit instead of a one-off campaign. Find them in Meta's Creator Marketing Hub, get access to their handles, run paid partnership and whitelisted ads, repurpose proven TikTok Shop content, mix it with brand and UGC creative, then send each segment to a landing page built for it.

Why creators became an ad product on Meta

I've been talking about Instagram Creator Marketplace for a long time, and for most of that time brands treated it as a directory. Search by niche, scroll some profiles, send a few DMs.

That's not what it is anymore. Over the past year Meta has been folding creator discovery, creator performance data and partnership ads into one first-party workflow. Things brands used to pay thousands of dollars for, sometimes tens of thousands, are now native and free inside Meta.

That's uncomfortable for some businesses. If a business model depends on charging brands to find creators, selling influencer lists, or reselling data Meta already owns, that layer is getting squeezed. Access to information is being commoditized. Execution is the moat. The brands and partners who win are the ones who can turn creators into a performance channel and know when organic content is ready for spend.

What Meta's Creator Marketing Hub shows you now

Meta kept building here. In 2026 it rolled Instagram Creator Marketplace and the Partnership Ads Hub into one place, the Meta Creator Marketing Hub, and added Facebook creators to it. Discovery has shifted from influencer vibes to performance.

Performance-weighted discovery

Meta now flags creators it predicts will perform well in ads for your brand, and recommends creators with past ads experience. In other words, it's pre-qualifying creators for ad readiness before you ever reach out.

Organic and paid data in one view

Accounts reached, interaction rate, content format performance and partnership ad history sit together. This used to take spreadsheets and guesswork.

AI-powered creator matching

  • Creators similar to ones you've already worked with
  • Creators who follow or tag your brand
  • Creators who have said they're interested in working with you
  • Creators with past ads experience

Most brands haven't spent enough time inside it to see how far this has gone.

How do you find creators who are true brand ambassadors?

There's a difference between relational creators, who genuinely like your brand, and transactional ones, who are there for the commission. For paid partnership ads you want the first group. Their content reads as real because it is.

The fastest way I know to find them takes about two minutes:

  1. Open Meta's Creator Marketing Hub (formerly Instagram Creator Marketplace).
  2. Start with the creators Meta already connects to your brand: the ones who follow or tag you, or who've said they're interested.
  3. Check their analytics and sort for the best interaction rates.
  4. Start sending messages.

These are people who chose to follow you before you asked for anything. That's the best starting list you'll get. Once they're in, how you pay them matters too; I've written about why performance-only pay isn’t creator empowerment.

Run paid partnership and whitelisted ads from creator handles

Repurposing a creator's video on your brand page is fine. Going a step further works better: get access to the top-performing creators' handles and run paid partnership or whitelisted ads from their pages.

The ad shows up from the creator, not from your logo, and it gives Meta a different identity to deliver against. Creators tend to love it, because it grows their Instagram profiles too. It's one of the few asks where both sides clearly win.

Get partnership ads permission first, through an ad code or an account-level request, before you spend a dollar. Once you have access to the right profiles, you have more ways to mix creative, which is exactly what Meta wants.

Repurpose your TikTok Shop winners on Meta

Way too many brands think what happens on TikTok Shop stays on TikTok Shop.

It's been shocking to see how well top-performing TikTok Shop creator content works when you repurpose it for Meta ads. TikTok Shop creators understand how to sell. Their videos come across as authentic, and every proven winner gives you another asset to test.

If you already have creators generating sales on TikTok Shop, you have a library of pre-tested creative sitting on another platform. Pull the best of it into Meta, and where it makes sense, approach those same creators for partnership access on Instagram.

Mix brand, creator and UGC creative for Andromeda

With Meta's Andromeda update, ad retrieval and delivery lean heavily on creative variety. The system needs options to match the right ad to the right person.

The gains come when you blend three sources at once:

  • Creative from your internal brand team
  • Creator ads, including winners from places like TikTok Shop
  • Content from agencies that specialize in UGC for ads

Layer paid partnership and whitelisted ads on top and you've diversified even further.

This isn't about picking one over the other. Running diversified creative at the same time has consistently lowered incremental CPA in our accounts. People shop in different ways. I might buy from a creator-style video. You might buy from a brand-style creative. Your friend with the highest LTV might need to see both. Meta knows which type of ad each person is most likely to convert on, so give it the range to find out.

Match landing pages to your creative segments

This is the part most brands miss about Andromeda. Everyone talks about creative testing, new hooks, persona-based angles, creators and paid partnership ads. The smartest brands also match audiences to creatives to landing pages.

Grüns is a good example. When I looked about ten months ago, they had 700+ active ads and 15+ creator handles running paid partnership ads with various angles. Where they go further is the landing pages: narrative-driven, listicle-style pages that blend education, social proof and an add-to-cart flow. Each one feels like a helpful article but functions like a performance funnel.

The result is that every audience segment lands in an experience that feels made for them. Creative diversification only takes you so far. Your messaging, funnel and landing experience need to mirror your creative segmentation, so the story holds together from scroll to click to checkout.

A simple way to start:

  • Group your creator and brand ads by angle or persona.
  • Build one landing page per group that continues that angle's story.
  • Point each ad group to its matching page instead of your homepage or a generic PDP.

Treat creators like an ad unit you manage every week, and they stop being a side project.
