TikTok Shop Creator Levels L0–L8: What They Mean for Brands

TikTok Shop creator levels run from L0 to L8 and refresh every month. They're TikTok's read on how much a creator sells, based mostly on trailing GMV plus activity and product selection. Roughly, L1 starts around $1K a month in GMV and L7 starts around $1.5M. Levels are a useful first filter for picking creators, but they're not the whole picture.

I spend a lot of time in TikTok Shop's Affiliate Center on the brand side, mostly with TGTHR. One question that comes up constantly, with my own team and in conversations with other brands, is what the L-levels next to every creator actually mean. This isn't a playbook. It's what I know about how the levels work and a few ways I think about them. Your category, price point and stage as a brand will change how much any of it matters for you.

What are TikTok Shop creator levels?

Creator levels rank TikTok Shop affiliates from L0 to L8, and they refresh at the start of every month based on the prior month's performance. GMV is the biggest input, but TikTok's US partner documentation says activity level and product selection also count.

You'll see "L0–L7" in a lot of third-party guides. TikTok's own docs now go to L8. The top end expanded, and not every guide has caught up.

How much GMV does each creator level need?

TikTok doesn't publish clean US cutoffs, so treat these as directional. They come from Hubfluence's breakdown and are based on trailing 30-day GMV:

  • L0: $0 to $1K
  • L1: $1K to $5K
  • L2: $5K to $25K
  • L3: $25K to $60K
  • L4: $60K to $150K
  • L5: $150K to $400K
  • L6: $400K to $1.5M
  • L7: $1.5M and up
  • L8: not publicly specified

What should brands know about creator levels?

Shoppers can't see levels. Only creators and sellers can, per TikTok's seller documentation. A level is a B2B signal, not social proof.

Levels are per market. A UK level reflects UK GMV and a US level reflects US GMV. An L4 in the US can be an L1 in the UK, so rosters don't travel across regions.

Levels move every month. One viral video can bump a creator up for a month before they fall back. A creator's level over the last three to six months tells you more than this month's label.

Higher levels unlock perks. TikTok's Creator Level terms list benefits like refundable samples, incentive programs and 1:1 support at L6. The more a creator gets from TikTok directly, the more your offer has to compete.

Are creator levels the same as Creator Badges?

No. Creator Badges are a separate, creator-facing system with tiers named Bronze through Diamond. TikTok's badge documentation says badges are driven by GMV and GNE violation points, so a creator with strong sales can still have a capped badge because of compliance issues. When a creator mentions their badge, I usually ask about their level too.

How I think about creator levels

The thing I keep coming back to is that a level is a starting filter, not an answer. In my experience, steady GMV tends to come from a broad middle of creators rather than one or two big names. But that's shaped by what you sell: a low-priced impulse product and a premium tee are going to play out differently.

  • L1–L2 can be a good place to cast a wide net with samples and see who actually converts for you.
  • L3–L4 is often where I'd want real relationships, since these creators have shown they can sell consistently.
  • L5 and up can make sense for a launch or a big moment, if the economics work for where you are.

Take those as ideas, not rules. Fit matters more than level, since a creator selling beauty at L5 may do nothing for a men's apparel brand. And what works at $20K a month in GMV probably looks different at $500K. If you want to go deeper, I wrote about how concentrated creator GMV really is and which tier to target, including how I vet creators by sample-to-post ratio before sending product.

Where I land

Levels are useful, and I check them, but I try not to let them do my thinking. Look at the trend, look at the fit and figure out what makes sense for your brand right now.
